Neben vielen Blogs und Internetseiten prangert es neben der Adresszeile im Browser -das Favicon-. Es ist mal schlicht gehalten, oder auch bunt und manchmal sogar animiert. Diese kleinen Icons erhöhen den Wiedererkennungseffekt einer Seite und sehen zudem meist noch gut aus. Darum habe ich mich nun entschlossen mein eigenes zu basteln. Das (vorläufige) Ergebnis könnt Ihr oben links bewundern. Es wirklich verwunderlich, was man alles in so einem kleinen Bild darstellen kann.
Aber was genau ist ein Favicon?
Ich denke, Wikipedia bringt es hier auf den Punkt.
Ein Favicon (kurz für favourite icon) ist ein kleines, 16×16 oder 32×32 Pixel großes Bildsymbol oder Logo, das in der Adresszeile eines Browsers links von der URL angezeigt wird und meist dazu dient, die zugehörige Website auf wieder erkennbare Weise zu kennzeichnen.
Wie erstellt man ein solches Symbol?
Eigentlich ganz einfach, man kann mit Hilfe eines Grafikprogramms einfach eine 16 auf 16 Pixel große Grafik erstellen und fertig. Da ich aber ein fauler Hund bin bediente ich mich eines Favicon-Generators. Einfach generieren, und die Datei “favicon.ico” per FTP ins Hauptverzeichnis seiner Seite kopieren. Um es auch gleich bestaunen zu können, empfiehlt es sich den Browser-Cache zu löschen. Fertig!

Quatsch, aber für mich gehört solch ein Bildchen zu einer Webseite, quasi ist es fast eine Gallionsfigur, ein Aushängeschild.
Seitdem fast alle Browser das sogar ohne Link rel=shortcut icon href=xxx erkennen, ist es doch ein leichtes geworden.
Einfach nutzen, weil es eben zur eigenen Identifikation dazu gehört…

Stimmt, Gallionsfigur ist ein guter Vergleich zu einem Favicon. Fehlt mir nur noch ein einzigartiges Theme.
